The Lane County Veteran's Asso
ciation, the GAR, Ladles of tbe G A
Rand Sons of Veterans assembled in
Frank's hall last evening.
The ladles sang some aoul atirrlng
old war songs. Tbe meeting
called together by Frank Kelsner,
president of the Laue County Veteran's
Association. The address of welcome
was delivered by Comrade R H Miller
and waa truly patriotic It
responded - to by Comrades Cook
Lincoln aod others.
Miss Floreaoe Quimby, department
secretary of the Ladiea G A R, ex
plained tbe workings of that order.
Comrade Miller of Cittage Grove
recited a camp fire poem. Mrs Philips
of HoBsburg spoke interestingly of the
Soldiers' Home. Mrs Butcher ex
plained that the Ladies GAR wss not
an auxiliary but co-worker with the
GAR. Mrs Wands of Salem, acting
president, gave an entertaining
address. Comrade McElroy Bpoke of
tbe chivalry of the veterans during tbe
southern campaign. Comrade Chap.
man lent IiIh endorsement to the
Ladles GAR after wbloh the recep
tion was brought to a close.
Tbe reef ptiou was a grand success In
every particular.

The convention of the Ladle G .
R etitl goes merrily on.
Tbe convention was opened at
o'clock, senior vloe president In the
obalr, and proceeded to business with
a orowded house. . For three-quarters
of an hour the Circle and offloers were
kept busy administering the obliga
tion or their respeoti ve orden. Twenty
Comrade were obligated and other
business transacted.
At 9:30 the Old Veterans fell In line
and a procession was formed In .the
following order: The GAR, Depart-
m nt offloers, Ladies of G A R in
a carriage, and Rich Mountain Circle
on foot, and tbey all stepped off with
heads up, beaded by a Martial Band
each organization bearing the starry
banner. The line of march wen.
noith on Oak street to 7l.h, thence west
to Willamette, thenoe south to 10th
thence east to Oak, then north to 9th
and tbe place of beginiog.
At 12o'olcK)k; Mr Lunoh was an1
nounoed, and all repaired to the G A
R Halt where all were served with
lunch and coffee, and all enjoyed
themselves for three-quarters of an
hour. When lunob waa over the
ladies repaired again to Frank' Hall
And proceeded to business of the oon

At 2:30 o'olock Mrs Livingston ar
rived on the southbound train and
waa eeoorted to the Hall, where the
ladies were In session, and eonduoted
to tne cnair, wnen tne command was
turned over to her, and amid great
applause the ladiea bade her a hearty
welcome.
As we go to press the work of the
convention still goes on and a good
number of candidate await-obligation
until tbe tbe entire oonventisn return
from a vlBit to the Btate University at
6 o'olock p. m. Forty.one comrades
have thus far been obligated Into the
order.
THE PROCESSION.
This forenoon, at 10:30 o'olock the
Lane County . Vetrans Association
made a street parade. The noble band
of men .that fought so valiantly from

fife. They made an Impressive ap
pearance aa they marohed up Willam
ette atreet. There were 77 Veterans
and 35 members of tbe Ladies of tbe

liar, he is not orazy, but suffering long
years from wounds,, aud not receiving
proper sanitary care is now In a help
less oonditlon, and no doubt bis days
on earth are few. Tbe Grand Army
was in annual reunion at tbe time said
commitment was made. No effort
waa put forth by tbe authorities to
apprise the G. A. R. of tbe facta, but
the county board, Judge Potter at tb.

Resolved', By - the Lane County
Veterana' Association and all soldiers
of all wars, tbat this Is not only an In
Jury to a veteran, but an insult to old

All secret orders are consulted when
members ot tbeir order are in que
tion. Why was not the Grand Army
conferred with? Are we not entitled
to the same courtesy as other societies.
While we admit that w. are falling in
numbers by tbe baud of time, we are
not failing in fraternity, obarity, and
loyalty, one to another.
