Mr. Brown has given tbe dairy business a practical test, and knows that there Is money In it. He manufactures an average of 80 pounds of butter a week, and finds a ready sale for bis produot tbe year around at 20 oents per pound. He says that there is good money in selling milk to tbe oreamerles at the prices prevailing. "Mr, Brown is of the opinion that the farmers should take tbe matter in band at onoe, and establish a creamery to be conducted on tbe co-operative plan. He has Investigated the cost of a plant suitable for this vlolnlty, ana flnds no large sum of money will be required to put In the necessary machinery. His plan is to form a joint stock oompnny, with a capital stock of from $1,600 to $2,600, divided into shares of say $2) each, then let each farmer Interested subscribe for as many shares as be wishes to take, and agree to furnish tbe milk of a certain number ofoowsto tbe oreamery. The next step would be to employ a oompetent man to take obarge of the oreamery and superintend ita operation. The Guard believes that tbe co operative creamery Is tbe auooessful one, and that working on this basis, an effort should be made to establish such a plant in Eugene.
