HOP HARVEST All the Yards Under Way. well Quito a number of yards have cmu- ple ed picking, but some will not finish until next week. Dealers generally lojk fur u fair open ing of the market, and confidently ex- ect a good price, though In some In stances it is thought the market will uot be as ttond us could bo desired for t'le reason that Euglaud, Belgium aud Germany will have a greatly ini-rees-ed yield, while Russia, formerly a heavy importer, now produces suflloi- eut hops for home consumption, aud has a few to spare for the balance of the world. This with a good yield lu all hop sections In the United Males, with the possible exception of New York state, may prevent the price i.l hops from reaching grout heights, but fair ciimpeusatlou for expenses iucui- ed and a reasonable pi oil t , Is iiHsured o the glowers who gave their crops the neceisary attention and care. Balem Statesman: MThe uiaikct has not opened as yet, and is what might be termed extremely dull, lor there ure no sales to record, and local dealeis all agree that uo ordeis have been receiv ed from the East. Eastern hop deal ers are anxiously awaiting reports of he output of the Paoifto coast yards, before placing orders, aud they also wish to see u full line of samples bofore purchasing, as it is be'ieved lhat tho samples of tho drat piokiugs aud tho e of tho last will show a considerable diflerence." Oregoniati: "The hop harvest Is drawing to a close, and there is consid erable disappointment ever the partial wreomug ot the bright prospecui o( a lew weeks ago. It is still too eaily to ascertain the exact amouut of damage that has been wrought, but It has been considerable, Tho price situation re mains about the same as last week. Brewers Tare very indillerent about taking hold of any new-crop bualnes", even at llgurei uiuiih under the price at whiah Bonte of the contracts were made lapt slimmer, and exporters have not yet began to talk prices." liNlYERSiry NOTEf.
