city, Last evening an informal recep
tion wai tendered Mrs Gates by the
W K C ladies of the city at the home
of Mrs Anna Holden, on Willamette
street. Light refreshments were serv
ed, aud the evening spent in social con
verse was enjoyed by all present.
PERMANENT ORGANIZATION TODAY.
This morning a session was held for
tho purpose of effecting a permanent
organization under the name of "The
Lane County Veterans Association."
About 60 were in attendance and the
work at hand was expeditiously oor-
reot and under the able direction of
Comrade W II Lincoln as chairman,
and Comrade B. H Miller as secretary.
The election of officers resulted on
follows;
President, Frank Reisner, Eugene.
Vice-Presidents, F E Miller, Cottage,
Grove, B G Lockwood, Loraue, Jno
R Cook, Mohawk.
Secretary, A Yerlogtou, Eugene.
The next annual meeting of the asso
ciation will be held in Eugene, begin
ning the second Tuesday in June, 1900.

final adjournment a series of resolu
tions and votes of thanks were carried
with enthusiasm. The people of Eu
gene, J W Geary post and aoxllllarle
were thanked tor the display of hospi
tality, and financial assistance freely
given, and entertainment provided;
the presiding officer, W H LincolD,
and Adjutant R H Miller were thank
ed lor their close attention to details
and rapid dispatch of business; the
Guard was tendered a vote of thanks
fur courtesies extended.
Wltb the adjournment at 11:&0 (he
present session is formally at an end,
and the visitors are leaving for their
homes more than pleased with the
present reunion, and sanguine for the
success of annual meetings. The vet
erans can be assured that they
will find a hearty welcome in Eugene
at any lime.
