Mr Vanderbilt arrived from Newport

night. He appeared in good health
and spirits and retired soon afterward'.
About midnight be vas seized with a
serious stroke of paralysis, the second
from which he has suffered. The
household was aroused, and telegrams
were sent to Dr James, Dr Janeway
and several other physicians, wbo ar
rived In a short time. Everything
possible was done for the patient, but
he grew rapidly worse au'l died at 5:16
'clock. He was semi-conscious until
death.
