From advance shoetB of the Com mercial Year Book, shortly to be i68tiol from the Now York Bulletin1!) ofllco, we ore ablo to presout a sum mary of approximately complete Btatietios of the trust organizations in tho United Btatoa. We horo tme the torm "truwt" in its broadest popular sense; as covering not only consolidated corporations, framed for directly monopolists purposes, but also alliances of indopondont organizations aoting under a com mon understanding for tho purpose of Icbs dirootly regulating or defeat ing natural competition, tho latter boing but a small proportion of the whole. At the end of Febru ary these oombinatlonB num bered 803, with the following ag gregations of oapital stock and bonded debt, compared with a year previous: 1S'J9 1S!W Numburot Organisa tion! 8X1 '-MO Common stock ......f I,2I7,918,!SI ':,S.H1,7.V?,11U rnfwtvd nock ra,sis,2c ai:i,7in,o;t3 Total .look w.im.wi.lM "iv-Wi.rui,!.'.:! lioudod debt 7U,'JSS,iWl rrWoltywi Stock, aud bond.. It will be seen that, at tho end of February, these 353 combinations bud issued a total of Sff),llS,o00,000 of capital stock and 7M,3SS,000 of bond obligations. One cannot ap preciate this iuitnohso capitalization until hiking thought that the en tire gold Block of the world is but $1,202,300,000, just nbuit tho amount of common stock issued by the trusts during tho past yecir. A HOUSK EU1TOK KKl'OKT. Tho regular musical repoiterof tho Salem Journal was unable to attend the OodowBky concert, and tho "horse" editor was detailed to attend to tho job. We give a couple ot extracts Iron) the report of the new cAndid-ite for musical repor torial honors: The initial Oregon iierlornmmio of Leopold Vodoweky, who plays the piano in the ituB-tian, Polish, Hebrew, English, German and Hungarian language, wan given at the First Mtholirt church, our otherwise excellent opera holme having nut yet been sulliuiently fumigated and cleared of rats to be suitablo to the enjoyment of hightoned classical musio. While people, even in UieduriBuly populated anil inoet cultured centers of the greut wool-growing west, don't exactly get their mouths watering over the Schumann, Schu bert, Liszt, Wagner combinations, b a range liuMe does in a path of red clover, this second concert in the i;reat classical series was no doubt a sucecHS, considering that it was the too-too, away-up high U number of the hunch. Til WKYt Ht'IRlT. Kev 11 Hebur Newton. The era of competition is ended. The era of combination huB opened. All business is concentrating. In this masking of capital there is coming to be an absolute domina tion over the wage-worker, over the interests of the people at largo, over the life of the Btate itself. Yet this movement appears natural and perhaps is necessary. It iB in the line o( economic progress, Tho real question concerning it is: Can this new order grow a soul within it a spirit capable of mas tering these monptor powerB and using them, not for self aggrandize ment, but for human service? If it cannot, thore is a revolution ahead worse than any the world has hitherto known. If it can, there opens an era of boundlesB, beneficent, progress. There is a question of religion. It is the old need of an ever fresh faith and hope and love. 111 A robust, manly son and n cooing baby-girl nestling in her bommi what more can any wom anly woman ask ? It in a boon that II c n v c n intended B.muld be granted to every woman. Thoiwmds fail of thin because they have tico-lecled to look after their health in womanly way. The health of a woman 'a balnea is dependent upon her own health during the period of prospective maternity. The prospective mother cannot be loo par ticular about her physical condition. If she suffers from local weakness, nervous ness or loss of vigor aud virility, her cliil dieii will be wiNik, puny and sickly. Dr. rirrce'a Vavorile Prescription is the only unfailing cure for all weakness and disease of the delicate and important organs that bear the brunt of maternity, It makes these organs strong, healthy, vigorous, virile and clastic. It makes the prospective mother strong and cheerful. It robs maternity of its perils. It insures a baby constitution ally strong. It is the invention of an emi nent and skillful specialist, who has had thirty years' training in this particular branch, during which time he and his staff of physicians have prescribed for many thousands of women. Medicines dealers sell it and an honest dealer will not urge upon you an inferior substitute merely for the little added profit he may make thereon.
