"It is no more than just that I speak a comdliiiientary word for our new senator, Dr Kuykcmiall, for he cer tainly merits it. The practical and sensible way In which hu deals with legislative matters has been remarked upon by members and others. He does not pose as a great statesman nor make long winded speeches, but he quick ly gets at the kernel of a subject and In his plain, lucid and candid way carries conviction to the senators and almost universally carries his point. He has taken a lively ami intelligent interest in educational matters and has dili gently looked after them beside sev eral on Borne other very Important committees. II K K1NCAI1). "I do not endorse the vile and vin dictive assault upon H It Kinoald, ex secretnry of state, by 'A. H.' (Alfred Ilolmau, a nephew of Bouator Me- Brh'e.) No doubt Mr Kincald, like ether members of the human family has his short comings, but dishouesty aud theft are not among them. He has retained in oflice for four yeara nine mem lers of the McBride family and was severely criticised by his political friends for keeping them contended 'continually In oflice.' Those Iu position to know claim that Air Kincald's administration has re sulted to the state's profit thousands of dollars above any of his predecessors In recant years. 'Man's Ingratitude to man' Is beautifully Illustrated In this case.
