EASTERN OFFICE-2J0 to 234 Temple Court, New York City. E. KAfZ, Agent. WEDNESDAY, - OCTOBER 21. FLAG DAY. National Chairman Jones has up pointed Saturday, October 31, ns flag day for tlio followers of Bryan, the same day set by Mr Hanna for the followers of McKinley. Mo-' Kinley wants the flag unfurled for all believing in sound money. Mr Bryan says: "We who believe in money of the constitution are for sounder money than those who want to change our currency into pounds, shillings and pence. We who believe in a basis for our fi nancial tranactions to rest upon, believe in a sounder financial sys tem than those who advocate the gold standard and a financial sys tem based upon gold alone when you cannot got gold to your foun dation." Mr Jones says: "The American flag has always been the emblem ' of national honor, and It will al ways remain bo. It is tuo sacred to be prostituted to partisan pur poses, as has been attempted for the first time in this campaign. Its influence has always beon for good of mankind. Its display isalways potent for the advancement of all that is boat in our government, for it appeals to every Bontimont of patriotism and national pride. "I therefore suggest that on Sat urday, Octobor 31, all tlioso who desire to preserve the country's honor and independence, as it came to us from the fathers; who be lieve in the rights of every man, rich or poor, to cast a free and un trammeled ballot; who oppose gov ornment by corporations and the ooeroion of voters, and desire that real and genuine proBpurity may onoe again roturn to bless our peo ple, display the national colors at tbelr homes, their places of busi ness and wherever else they may be seen, in ordor that voters whose hearts are for their country nny be cheered and their purposes strength ened and that those who are waver ing may take courage of their pa triotism to perform their duties as citizens, to tho end that govet n ment of tho people, by the people and for the people Bhall not perish from the earth. A FELONIOUS ACT. It is announced that Boss Hun na's lioutonants will endeavor to in re iiryan voters to stay away from the polls, hoping to carry the presidential election through ab senteeism. It is not likely that the attempt will bo made in this stale, especially as it would be a feloni ous act. Sees. 1850-1, Criminal Code of Oregon, provides: "Any porson who shall " induce or persuado any legal voter to re main away from the polls, and not vote nt any geneml oloction in this state, shall, on conviction, be deemed guilty of a felony and shall be punished .by impris onment in the penitentiary not loss than one nor moro than three yoars, and shall be for ever ineligible to hold any office of trust or profit in this state." Remember that Oregon voters who wish to support Wm J Bryan for president must vote tor the fol lowing fueion electors: N. L. Butler. W. H. Spaugb, E. Hofcr, Harry Watkins. The electors headed "national democrat" are the goldbug McKin- lov assistants, and should only be voted for by suckers, or by those who wish to assist McKinley by giving him a half vote, Bear this in mind, voters. There are In the office of the treas urer of Benton county funds amount ing to $2824. with which old outstand ing warrant could be paid were they presented for redemption. Home or these warrants were Issued as far back as April, 1887. Doctors are often handicapped by the mere fact that when treating the diseases of women, they suggest and insist on " exam inations" and local treatment" A great many of them do not know that this is abso. lutcly unnecessary. Many a woman has been thrown into a dnngerous state of ner vous excitement by the mere suggestion bf such treatment Many women lie to the doctor. That sounds hard, but it Is un doubtedly true. They know that if they admit certain symptoms that the doctor will inevitably insist on an "examination." They do not give him all the facta in the case, and so he works in the dark. Quite often the doctor is too busy and too hurried to make the necessary effort to obtain the tacts. He frequently treats symptoms tor what they appear to be on the aunace, when the real cause and the real sickness is deeper ana more uaugerous. a derangement 01 the distinctly feminine organs will derange the whole bodv. The woman herself mav not know exactly what is the matter with her, but whenever she is sick, there are two thinga she ahould look out for first One is what is called " female weakness :" the other Is constipation, for these two things frequently go togciuer. ur. ricrce's fa vorite prescription is designed for the cure of diseases and disorders of women, and it does cure them. It has been performing its healing mission for 30 years, and tena of thousands ot women nave Deen made happy by it. Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets are for constlnation. and contingent ills. Druggists sell them, but sometimes in well meaning ignorance, they will try to sell you some, tiling else. There is nothing "just the same" or "Just as good." The druggist who tells you there is, is either mistaken or dishonest.
