REPUBLICAN STATE PLATFORM. The platform is in effect, a re affirmation of tho 1892 platform, which under the construction which has prevailed during tho last two yeaiB, is a complete strad dle on the financial question. It raads as follows: Tho American people, from tradi tion and interest, favor bimet allism, and the republican party demands tho use of both gold and silver as standard money, vitli such restrictions and under such provisions, to be determined by legislation, as will secure the main tenance of Iho parity of values of the two metals, so that tho pur chasing aud debt paying power of the dollar, whether ot silver, gold or paper, shall at all times be equal. The interest of the coun try its farmers and its working men demand that every dollar, paper or coin, issued by the govern ment, shall bo iih good as any other dollar: Tho platform favors protection and the reciprocity policy of James Q. Blaine; favorB tho construction of the Nicaragua canal by tho gon eral government and the election of United Stalos eenators by a direct voto of tho people. 0:i fish ories it says: "Wo Bee tho impor portance and magnitudo i f tho lishing industry on the Columbia river would recommend that some provisions bo mudo for state liatohory for artificial propagation, and that tho luws regulating close, season bo rigidly enforced." In rogard to tho financial plank, a minority roport of the committee on platform was submitted signed by Claud Cm tub, Chus. S. Moore, V. W. Stoiwor, Darwin lliistiw, W. II. Conycrs, and W. P. Conna way. It embodied tho idea of tho Oregonian of committing tho con vention lo a clear and unmistak able denunciation of tho free coin Age of silver, and read as follows: Resolved, That wo favor the use of both gold and silver to (lio ex tent which they can be maintained in circulation at parity in purchas ing and dobt paying power; but we are earnestly opposed to tin free and unlimited ouinago of silver at tho ratio of 11) to 1 for the reason that it would destroy such parity, onormouBly contract tho volumno of curroncy by forcing gold out of circulation and immudiulcly plac ing tho oountry on a silver Imsie. liulioving that the effect of inter national demonetization of silver can bo overcomo only by interna tional romouclizalion'of that metal, the republican party of OivgDii most earnostly favor such uio.i.sniv ns will accomplish that purpose. This minority report was dt fcatcd by a voto of 129 to 108. ONE HO 1.1. A R nil EAT. P. K. Armour, tho Chicago kiiifi, in speaking of the whcut outlook, Bays: "I believo that wheat will sell at f 1 a bushel or near that figure soon. This is speaking from tho standpoint of a merchant and not ns scalpor. It ought to sell thereon its merits, and will unless some , thing tinforseen occurs. I have felt bullish for several weckh but never moro so than now. What any individual or operator says, has no referono to tho actual tiiir kct conditions. The advance will not bo a matter of sentiment, although I believe business men all over the country are becoming moro confident and cheerful. This grain may be singled out f. r im provemont. I believo that all products will bo helped. Corn and oaU may cll up a few ceuU, although conditions of supply and demand are entirely different in them t'. an in wheat, but provisions are at a range of prices where they are sure to be better. Albany Democrat: The repub licans of Lane county passed just ono lone resolution. They were very bravo lo do so much. Pendleton Tribune: Miss Har rietts C. Woodruff, who has been county school superintendent for the past four years, was not renomi nated at tho last populist conven tion, but nevertheless she has shied her bonnet into the arena and will run as an independent candidate at the coming election. Miss Woodruff has been a very efficient superintendent and has a host of friends and admirers whose, sup port will make her a very formid able candidate. Oiikuon Stone Chosen. Ueorge W Davis, of tliu Pioneer Btone Company, is in receipt of a telegram uniiouueing that the stouo of tho Oregon Pioneer quarry, on Yuquina bay, lias been e- lectcd to be used in tho construction of tho Ban Francisco Cull building, save a Salom dispatch. Tliore lias been some II irt in California to create a prejudice against Oregon building stone In favor of the California pro- duet, but. Oregon continues to gt some very desirable contracts. He sides the Call building, Oregon has furnished the rne for the feiry depot and the handsome Parrott building, in Ban Francisco. CEO. B. DORRIS. Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law, t7TLL PLACTICJ? AHjgh Fte IP The skeleton in many a household is the peculiar weak nefls of the wife and mother, or of the wife who ought to be a mother and is not Happiness is de stroyed by the pres ence of the secret sickness that may lurk like a grinning death among the most luxurious homes. The most terrible thing about ill is condition of af fairs is that it is entirely needless. There is no reason in the world why every woman in the world should not be strong and health fill and capable of fulfilling her whole duty an a wife and mother. Many women go on month after month, and year after year, be coming weaker rind weaker, because of a very natural hesitnncy they feci in consult ing a physician. They know that if they go to a doctor for treatment, the first thing he will insist on will be "examination" and local treatment." This must of course be distasteful to every modest woman. They are generally as unnecessary as they are ab- norreni. ur. t'lerce a favorite rrescnption cures positively, perfectly, permanently, all varieties of "female weakness" and dis ease.
