After being out a short time tlie lury returned a verdict of guilty as to John Cox and not guilty at to Wm Cox. The justice imposed a line off 10 on John Cox, which he was unable to pay. The uew scouring machine has been placed in the south end of the building, while the leaches, four lu number, and the bark mill bave been placed in tlie uew addition ou the west side. An elevator is being built, near tlie east end, to the third floor, and will be used iu hoisting und lowering tlie hides in bulk from one ioor to another. A new and lurge water lank lias bceu built and will be placed on top ol the building to bold a water rescive to be used in case or lire. The scouring machine, wuicn nus been ou hands for Beveral months, but which was only placed In positiou and set to work a day or two ago, is quite a labor saviag device. Heretofore the process of scouring the hides has been performed by bans', from three lo live men bch; required to turu out 200 sides per day, according to the com.l- tion of the hides, some requiring a great deal more work than others. Tlie machine will turn out nou sines per day, and does excellent work. It will uot decMvpse the number or employes, as the increase in huiiiieo will lurnisii work for all. The Inventory taken at tlie first ol this year showed $4000 worth of hides on Hand, and me amount aepi, wu band will range from this sum down to $11100. Mr Haines has put in $1000 worth of Improvements this winter. The monthly output of the tannery is now 600 sides of leather but that amount will be increased lo"&0 aides litis spring.
