Sh ‘rwood and family have moved to Canby .and Mrs Sius sand wife, to vu wh >m he sold, are now living on the farm. J. D. Baughman and wife, of Thurston, and Miss Ruby Baughman, who is teaching in the Creswell school, spent Thanksgiving with their mother and grandmother at this pl • -o. Mr. and Mrs. P. N. Laird are in Eir , ne ¡it the bedside of Mr. Laird's m '-her, who is not expected to live. Mr. and Mr«. Richard Liles enter- ta red the pupils of the high school anJ a few of their friends last Fri day evening and ¡tn enjoyable time is reported. The lumber is on the ground for horse sheds to be built on property belonging to and near the Christian church. They will probably be ready for use in a week or two. Mrs. Clara Corum, teacher In the high school, went to Ashland to spend Thanksgiving with her husband and his family. The $400o imported Percheron stallion belonging to the Creswell & Pleasant Hill Stock Company died re cently of cerebro-splnal fever. It is quite possible that a pottery may be established here in the near future, a deposit of clay having been found near the foothills which is pro nounced suitable for the purpose by an experienced pottery worker, who will probably test the matter in the coming spring or summer. The plastering on R. J. Hemphill's new residence is nearly done and the family expect to occupy it before Christmas. This undoubtedly Is the best residence near the Military road from Eugene to Igjwell, and one of the best in the county. While the Commercial Club or city council are trying to secure better telephone service for Eugene it vouli be to their interest to Include the lines from Eugene to Springfield u it Is nearly impossible for country lines running through Springfield central to do business with Eugene, and for this reason Springfield II getting trade that would otherwisego to Eugene.
