Gue case occurs where there is a five-tenths grade and the proposed change would ueceeaitits an eighth-tenths grade— tbea the difltrence can not be seen casually—but to haul over the piece of road would require one-third more power, and locomotive power costs from 15,000 to *7 000 per annum. Bat th« difficulties In this matter are near- iy all settled, aud we have it from good authority that grading will commence by April 1st and the road be oompleled to the timber reserve line by Septem her. Mr. P. J. Jennings is now In the Eaet endeavoring to secure tue right of-way through the timber reserve.
