It is doubtful if there is another town of ItB equal in popu lation that can boast of any kind of musicial organization worth men tioning, not only in the state, but on the coast. Judging from the remarks one reads in the Barometer, there was a hot time in the old town after the Dallas-O. A. C. basket ball game last week. When the I. A. C. boys were defeated by Columbia they didn't throw any mud, but went out to a reception together and had a good time. T.J KrjT, 'f ! Conger, formerly of trrs place, but now bf Mtdford, was looking after business matters here the fore part of this week. He re ports business rushing in his part of the stale and real estate transfers plentiful. This is t?ie result of judicial publicity and Independence can profit by the example set by her neighbors. There will be a game of basket ball at the auditorium Monday night between the I. A. C. and the Muscatines, of Muscatine, Iowa. This promises to be a very interest ing game as the Mnscatines are the champions of the east and oar boys have been defeated but once.
