A good busi ness man was chosen to preside over the house in the person of A. L. Mills, president of the First National Bank of Portland. For president of the senate, Dr. W. . Kuykendall of Lane whs chosen. This paper has said that the doctor was not the best selection possible. It still en tertains that opinion but bows obeisance to Dr. Kuykendall as the candidate who received a majority of the votes of his fel low senators. This is a country of majority rule. In all matters in which he stands for, the best interests of the state at large, President, Kuykendall is en titled, to commendation.
