Leading financiers say that Mr. Rockefeller has a controlling interest in the following corporations: Standard Oil 1780,000,000 Amalgamated Copper 127,600,000 Calumet and HecSa 11,260,000 American Unaead 1,172,600 Corn Products company 4.936,000 St Psul railway Ii5.280.000 Total I1,070,1M,500 He also has heavy minority interests in United States Steel, Colorado Fuel and Iron, United States Leather, Con solidated Gas, International Harvester, New, York Central, Pennsylvania, Mis souri Pacific. Wisconsin Central and others. I It seems safe to say that Rockefeller Is the world's first billionaire. He con trols considerably over that amount. It is averred that he Is not so given to watering stocks as some of the smaller financial fish, though no one has had the temerity to advance as a reason therefor the fact that oil and water do not mix. It may be supposed. If this Impression Is correct, that most of these stocks represent real money. Al though ha has little hair and less di gestion, Rockefeller is the richest man that was or is or, let us hope, is to be. The planet, large as it Is, has not room for very many billionaires.1 It Is reported that Lake Michigan has a sea serpent twenty feet long, green In color with yellow stripes.
