II. Drexler. who has been in I'ortiami ror some time receiving medical treatment, has been home for a few days' visit. During his stay here, he and Mrs. Drexler very pleasantly entertained the Crab club at a 7 o'clock dinner. On Sunday last, Mr. and Mrs. Drexler and P. J. .Dickinson and wife motored to Port land, Mr. Drexler remaining for a time, the remainder of the party re- lurnirg to independence the same evening. In a recent letter from a Cali fornia vineyard owner to friends in the cicy, the statement is made that prohibition, instead of decreasing the commercial value of the wine graphs of California, has had just the oppo site effect. The fresh grapes are now (carefully packed and shipped to for eign ports, the over ripe grapes, that have fallen from the stem and partial ly dried, are gathered and made into jam. Many of these vineyards are bringing in annual returns of $500 ,an acre. Frank Hennigan, the chicken man, accompanied by his wife and daughter Ethel, motored to Willamina for the day Sunday, and as a result the 1000 or more chickens or the ranch failed to get their evening meal on schedule time. Mr. Hennigan had three blowouts on the . return trip, the first two he didWt mind in the least, but when he bought a new tire and that blew out, he felt that it surely was his hoodoo -day. The he family came home in the wee sma' I hours and the chickens had an extra purchased the, feel jn the morning. W. N. Sharp of Parker, accom panied byReV.
