Smith. Christian Church Notes Regular services at the Chris tian church next Sunday, both morning and evening. The pastor, who is Chaplain of the Coast Artillery Corps, has been granted a leave of absence. The pulpit will be filled by Presi dent Sanderson and Vice Presi dent Hoven of the Eugene Bible University. Bible School at 10 a. m. Senior and Junior Endeavor at G:30 p. m. , Mid-week service Wednesday evening. A party of Monmouth young people went out to the Dobell home Sunday evening and spent a very pleasant time. W. E. Haynie and family have moved into the house recently vacated by C. C. Mulkey and family who have the rooms ad joining the bakery. Ed Rogers and family, E. B. White and family and Arthur Durham were visitors at the home of J. W. White on Ameri can Bottoms last Sunday, enjoy ing an Easter dinner and a very pleasant day, socially. Mrs. Fred Olson is back from a visit with her son Harold at Vancouver, in Company L, and with her sister-in-law, Miss Bon nie Olsen at Wauconda. Mrs. Olsen visited the soldiers in camp and found most of them delight ed with soldiering as far as they haje seen it, although some are dissatisfied. Five pilgrims traveled over the rough highway of the second de gree of the Odd Fellows last Monday night and emerged safe ly, right side up with care. The five were N. A. Baker, Frank Moreland, Joe Clark, Oscar Zook and E. E. Hiltibrand. Howard Morlan is wearing a pair of glasses now as the result of a visit to a specialist in Port land last week. Mr. Welch was a business visitor to Independence one day last week. Floyd Moore, the rural school supervisor, was a visitor at our school Wednesday. V. A. Fishback is doing some slashing for Noah Heffley. C. E. Huntley of Talmage, deputy assessor, was here as sessing property Friday.
