Mr. Winter, the former Pastor, will now devote his entire Qrne to working for the interest f Dallas College. Boosters Perfect New Club At Independence. Independence, Or., April 17. A commercial club has been or ganized here with over 100 mem bers. An organization of this kind has existed here for some time, but the new club is to be conducted on strictly business principles, leaving out the social features entirely. It will be a booster club. J. S. Cooper " was elected president and Professor J. G. Mcintosh, secretary, to serve one year. A. C. Moore was elected vice-president; F. J. Goodenough, assistant secretary andK. C. Eldredge, treasurer. Attorney B. F. Swope, J. W. Mclnturff, H. E. Browne, J. L. Hanna and W. L Brice were ap pointed a committee to draft a constitution. The board of di rectors appointed by the presi dent consists of A. Mackey, B. F. Swope and F. J. Goodenough. Much work is planned for the nre-anization. advertising will be done and especial atten tionwill be given to securing better train service between here and Portland on the Southern Pacific railroad. Dallas Itemizes Man Who Feared Banks Loses Hoarded Gold. Secreting a pot containing be tween $1600 and $1800 in an out house on his residence property and having it stolen was the re cent experience of John Maxwell, who lives a mile south of Irving, where the road turns west to ward Fern Ridge. Roy Withers, a youth residing near there is being examined by District Attorney Brvson in Eu gene this afternoon, having been summoned to appear before that official to tell what he knows of the theft, it being suspected that he is implicated in it. It is learned that young With ers told a number of people in that vicinity that he took the money but that he has replaced some of it. It is also said that two other persons got a portion of the money and have left the community. Af ter the blaze had subsided he be gan to pour water at a certain place among the embers and soon pulled out the hoarded treasure, which had not been injured by the flames.
