School Officen' Parents' And Teacher' Meetings For Polk County Pres. T. W. Bunk and Sec. H. C. Seymour of the School Officers' Association of Polk County have arranged for the following School Officers', Par ents, Teachers, Meetings to be held in Polk County during the next few months, all School Off icers', Parents', Teachers', and friends of the Public Schools should plan to attend the meeting to be held in your section and as many more as possible. Buell section in which are the following districts; Buell, Har mony, Gooseneck, Pleasant View, Butler, and Grande Rhonde. .Meeting at Harmony, Jan. 15 Wm. McDean, Chairman. Eola section; Eola, West Salem, Brush College, Mountain View, and Popcorn. Meeting at West Salem, Jan. 22-A. Ileise, Chairman. Ballston section; Ballston, Enterprise, Scroggins, and Red Prarie. Meeting at Ballston, Jan. 29-B. Z. Riggs, Chairman. Salt Creek section; Salt Creek Upper Salt Creek, Concord, Dist. 15. North Dallas, and Pioneer. Meeting at Dist. 15, Feb, 19 Henry Voth, Chairman. Falls City section; Falls City, Bridgeport, Guthrie, Liberty, Oak, Dale, Oakhurst, Teals, and Rock Creek. Meeting -at Falls City, Feb. 2G-lra Nehrling, Chairman. Pedee sec ion; Pedee, Cherry Grove, Fir Grove, Montgomery, and McTimmonds Valley. Meet ing at Pedee, March 12, Chas. Ketber, Chairman. M istletoe. section ; M istletoe, Antioch, Sunnyslope, Cohran, and Elkins. 'Meeting at Mistle toe, Mar. 19, L. I. Bursell, Chair man. The meetings for the following sections will occur at night as flup't. II. C. Seymour and State Sup't. J. II. Ackerman will dur ing the week of Feb. 21-2G make a tour of the schools in the fol lowing sections and will hold the section meetings at night. Zena section; Zona, Lincoln, Spring Valley, and Lone Star. Meeting at Zena, Feb. 21- S. II. Barker, Chairman. Bethel section; Bethel, Mc Coy, and Perrydale. Meeting at Bethel, Feb. 22-S. L. Stewart, Chairman. Rickreall section; Rickrej.ll, Oak Grove, Etna, Greenwood, Oak Point, Smithfield, and Polk Station. Meeting at Rickreall, Feb. B. F. Lucas, Chairman. Buna Vista section; Buna Vista, Suver, Parker, and High land. Meeting at Buna Vista, Feb. 21-C. W. McLaughlin, C.'iairman. Airlie section; Airlie, U'wis villo, Ward, Valley View, and Fair View. Meeting at Airlie, Feb. 25-C. E. Staats, Chairman. At all meetings of these sec tions there will be a short pro gram by the children of the dif ferent schools of the section and also subjects of interest to the welfare of the schools of the country will be discussed by those present who wish to take part, there will be no set program and any who wish may feel free to take what ever part they wish. These meetings in the past have done much good for the schools of the county and by the united efforts of all interested in the boys and girls of the county much more good may be gotten from these meetings to be held this year. Mrs. Rheta Hamer of Salem is visiting her sister, Mrs George Sullivan of Monmouth. Kitchen, mother of Mrs. Dr. Bowersox, was here from Stayton, Oregon to spend Christmas with her daughter and family. The Salem High School basket ball team came over New Years day to play against the Monmouth High School team and were de feated by a score of 55 to 7. Miss Ethel Rigdon of Salem, and principal of the high school at Ashland, Oregon, .was here to spend the holidays with her friend, Mrs. F. R. Bowersox. The Monmouth High School basket ball team and the town team had a game Wednesday evening in which the former were the victors, the score be ing 12 to 13. The first half of the game was very close and it was a good game all the way through. Harold Bogert, R. W. Speer, A. D. Elder, E. C. Cole and some other parties from Monmouth visited the ice pond near Inde pendence Wednesday with their skates and enjoyed some genuine skating. By the way, Mr. El der is said to be an expert at skating. Last Monday Morris Wheelock, who lives about one mile west of town killed a large Bob Cat which was seen by the rural mail carier A. F. Huber, while passing by his place. Mr. Wheelock inime diately shouldered his gun and his dog soon treed Mr. Bob Cat and a well directed shot brought him to the ground. The cold weath er and snow is evidently driving the wild animals to the valley. At the regular meeting of The Woodmen of World Wednes day night the following officers were duly installed for the ensu ing term, J. W. Scott, Council Commander; Jesse Zook, Adviser Lieutenant; P. E. Chase, Banker; 0. A. Wolverton, Clerk; Walter Strain, Escort; II. E. Guthrie, Watchman; II. Cartmell, Sentry, and Wm. Riddell, Jr. Manager. Basket Ball Once More v On next Saturday evening the 8th. the Albany High School team will be in Monmouth to play against the High School team here. The Albany team is in line for the State championship and the boys here put up a pretty strong game, so that a lively game of basket ball is expected. The usual admission fee of 25 and 15 cents will be charged and the boys will play all the better if well encouraged. Stock Holders' Meeting. Notice is hereby given that the Annual Stockholders' meeting of The Pilot Knob Gold Miilimr & Mining Co., will be held at Mon mouth, Oregon, at 10 A. M..
