Independence. B. F. Jones was a Dallas visitor Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Mott spent Sun day in Salem. Clint Moore is the proud father of a baby boy. The little son of Ed Hillards is able to be out again. Wesley Perry, of Salem, was on our streets Saturday. II. Hirchberg is the proud own er of a new automobile. Miss Ella Robinson is clerking for Conkey, Walker & Lehman. Miss Carrie Quasdorf was a Salem visitor one day this week. Mrs. Abe Locke, of Portland, is visiting old time friends of this city. Mrs. Ellen Robertson, of Port land, is visiting Mrs. 0. A. Krea mer. Mrs. Johnson, of Salem, has been visiting her brother, Dr Allin. Mrs. Claud Pengra, of Oakland Oregon, is visiting her sister, Mrs. 0. A. K reamer. Skinner brothers are planning to put another boat on the river between here and Salem. The Monmouth Herald should be in every home. It is a clean paper with no saloon ads. Mr. Mott was a passenger to Vancouver last Thursday to at tend the funeral of a friend. The opera house is being rewir ed and otherwise improved, which will help the building very much. Elmer Lewis was called to Mon mouth Saturday on account of the sudden illness of his wife. C. Mr. Orland, who has been liv ing in Portland for the last two years, has returned to Falls City to reside. Mr. and Mrs. Cross, Chas. Wat son, E. S. Whitney and wife, of Salem, visited at the home of Mrs. Charles Cochran over Sun day. J. W. Gosch, who has been con fined to his bed at the Falls City hospital with a fractured leg, is able to be up and will soon be as good as new. A jolly crowd met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. No doubt look ing for a location. The Quakers are good people. Work is progressing fast on the new railroad between Dallas and Salem. The two main camps are at Eola and on the M. Phy Ward has purchased a span of fillies. They enjoy eat ing grass on Pioneer Dell.
