PLAYING A DARK HORSE.
Soldier Boys Have Deep-Layed Plan
to Defeat the Alumni.
Saturday night the High school
alumni will tangle with the Company
L soldiers at the Armory for the
first game of the season for the mili
tia. Although two teams are not very
evenly matched in weight the speed of
the ex-students should make the game
close and fast. The militia guards
weigh over 190 pounds. A prelimi
nary game between Smithfield and
Salt Creek teams will be played. The
Armory floor has been scrubbed and
the resin keeps it from being slick.
The lineups for tomorrow will be as
follows :

The Dark Horse forward is a mys

pany has extended the time of ship

raised by levy (19.6 mills), $260,205.01.
Total valuation as shown by assessment roll, $13,911,890.00; valuation of
O. & C. R. R. lands (excluded), $624,740.00; total valuation for consideration
in making levy, $13,287,150.00.
Outstanding warrants as shown by clerk's monthly report, December, 1914,
for which levy is to be made, $34,916.37; the report shows a balance in that
fund of $4,213.44, leaving a total deficit in the road fund of $30,702.93. A
levy for $34,000.00 will take care of the deficit and all interest and delin
quency charges against this amout.

est Price Since September.
The highest price paid for hops in
Oregon since the slump in the market
in September was given for the E. V.
D. Paul lot at Sheridan on Wednes
day. Together with the Paul lot of
180 bales was sold the White lot of
70 bales. The 250 bales brought 122
cents a pound. The Paul and White
hops go to the Annheuser Busch Brew
ing company, through the purchasing
agency of Hal Bolam and the Kola
Neis Hop company. The Paul hops
have been the most sought after in the
state. Mr. Paul is bead of the pub
licity and organization departments of
the Oregon Hop Growers' association

February Bluestem Brings (1.33.
v Two sales of wheat on the Portland
exchange on Wednesday broke all pre
vious records of the Pacific northwest
when 5000 bushels of February blue-
stem sold at $1.33, an advance of 1
cent over the top price paid Monday
for a like quantity. The other record
.sale was that of March club which
brought $1.32. None of this variety
for March delivery has been disposed
of before but the top bid was $1.31.
In addition 300 tons of February oats
at $31.50, the same price as paid

part of $3985.25 of 1914 Street Im
provement Bonds of the City of Dal
las, Polk County, Oregon, as author
ized by Ordinance No. 237 of said

said City, until 6:30 o'clock p. m.
on Monday, January 11, 191o. Said
Bonds will be thirty-nine in number
and in denominations of $100.00
