Elkins of Independence is a new resident in the city, he having bought a tract of land from IX F. Courier in North Falls City. F. M. Le Fever and family have moved in 10 me uuo xwieeoone uousv for the winter. M. 0. Munson and C. V. Davis bought the Teal mill this week of Albert Teal. Thev may not start the mill this spring. Fred Perrin is in Benton County visiting his father who has a farm there. The Spalding Logging Company camps above Black Kock have been shut down for the winter months which throws n number of Fall City people out of employment, how ever, there is a surplus of work here at present. Mrs. M. L. Thompson entertained a number of her friends at dinner Friday in honor of her mother, Mrs. Travis, who will leave for California in the near future. Among those present were Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Esther Montgomery, Mrs. Chas. Frink, Mrs. Telhcrow, Mrs. F. K. Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Vick and Mrs. Travis. Quite a novel party was given by Miss Hammond to her young lady friends last Saturday night. Each one was asked to come dressed as a child and be prepared to do some child stunt. Judging from the hil arity it was a success. Tlic Falls City Lumber Co.'s planer plant, formerly owned by Wntkins is being turned down and the rubbish hauled away, making a great im provement in that part of town. An Epworth League tea was serv ed at Mrs. Mae Wright's home Sat urday afternoon from 3 o'clock to .". The house was decorated with w hile chrisanlheniums. Evangelist M. L. Schooler is con ducting revival meetings at the Free Methodist Church. Fire broke out in tlu residence of J. J. Sammons Wednesday morning at half pa.-t three. Lige Mason just finished painting the bank building which adds to its looks very much. The work on the new Normal gym. is progressing nicely and will be a fine building when completed. Still the concrete walk building is going on, the walks on both sides of Main Street will be concrete the whole length soon. The sick in town are convalessing. The Polan boys and father have finished digging jmtatoes, they have about IKK) sacks. Mr. Polan went to Port la nil this week to visit his daughter. That Corvallis hen certainly did not take much time to eat, or she would not have laid so many eggs. I guess she knew eggs were going to be a good price.
