Headed by Governor Benson, hun dreds of people will go to Seattle this week from all parts of the state to attend the Alaska-Yukon-Pacifle ex position on Friday, July 9, which is Oregon Day. There has never been such a general movement of Oregon people beyond the state lines as is expected to be seen In Seattle this week. "Judging from the Interest shown in Portland, it will be simply a ques tion of how many the railroads can handle," said W. H. Wehrung, presi dent of the Oregon Commission to the fair. Governor Benson will respond to an address of welcome by President Chil- berg of the exposition on the morning or juiyy. m tne afternoon the Ore gonians will hold open house at the Oregon building from 3 to 6 and at night there will be a promenade and ball in the Washington building. The Portland Festival Chorus, numbering 3m voioes, win attend and will sing. Portland Day at the fair, July 20, also looks like a big day. Special trains will be run to carry the people ana reduced rates have been put in effect A special program has been prepared for that date. M. WILL RAISE FINE HORSES H. Becker, of Portland, Buys Old Gilliam Homestead Near Dallas. Mrs. Mildred Elliott and son, Jack, went to Portland, Wednesday. From Portland, Mrs. Elliott will aooompany the United States immigration Inspec tors to v Ictoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, where they go to deport a number of women from tha United States. Mrs. Elliott will act in the capacity of matron until the depot ta tion work Is completed, after which she will visit the Seattle Exposition before returning home. Brownsville Times, i Dr. William Tatotn, one of New port's old time citiiens, but for many years past a resident of the Coos Bay country, arrived Tuesday and Is look ing up old friends and acquaintances. i.ne octor has obaoged but little during bis long absence and Is just the same genial spirit as ever. New port News. Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Becker, of Port land, arrived in Dallas, Sunday.
