BY DEAN COLLINS. Loclclan Georare. from dav to dav. With earnest thought and burning woras, Casts salt in handfuls at the tails Of the Republican dicky-birds. They all attend with deep respect. And say: "Those views may be cor rect;" But still the salt so thickly thrown Just hits them on the funny-bone. , He demonstrates, triumphantly. Republicans are cruelly bound To follow close at Party's heel, ' As humble as the cringing hound; "But be emancipated, free. And cast your next good vote for me ; Thus will you vindioate the right, (And bring the Senate into sight.)" "O, turn a new leaf over, boys, And, independant now, at last, From paltry Party's galling chains ' That firmly bound you la the past Prove to the world that you are free, By casting your next vote for me ; Thus will the people get their will, (And I will be In office still.)" " Tis true, you've seen no Democrats Lined up to vote for Cake of late, But they've been free so long, you know, They do not need to demonstrate ; While you, just loosed from Party's band, Must give some proof of where you stand, To show the world that you are free, (Also, to land a job for me.)" . "The toga of the Senator, Or so, in sooth, it seems to me, Is not a partisan affair That is, not like it used to be, Before I cast my longing eyes Upon that mantle as a prize, (And thought 1 didn't have a show To get the old thing, anyhow.)" Thus as election day draws nigh jjogician ueorge, witn wily woras, Is throwing salt, in handfuls big, To catch the festive dicky-birds ; And calling in endearing notes, Because, in sooth, he needs the votes ; Yet, all the salt, so wildly thrown. Just seems to hit their funny-bone. CIRCUIT COURT ADJOURNS Will Be Called Again Next Monday to Try Hembree Murder Case.
