GUARANTEED SATISFACTORY foo Poor For Commerce Fed on Farms Much question having arisen as to me conauions or tue corn crop, wnieu the completion of husking has revealed the American Agriculturist, aften an Independent investigation upon this Dolnr. renorfs In nnrr n fnllnwa It la the almost nnh-pmnl ImtlmnnT of the correspondents in the important corn states, and particularly in the Ohio and Missouri valleys, that the quality of the crop is even poorer than wag believed a mouth ago. Completion of husking emphasizes the fact that the grain this year Is unusunllv lm mature, soft and full of moisture and that It Is not of a quality to insure its sare keeping. Heavy Farm Faadina The comparatively high prices ruling navinif led some to the onlnlnn that larger part of the cron would he market ed in commercial channels than usual the returns upon this point In a decided majority of cases were that more than the ordinary percentage of this venr's crop would 1 fed upon farms. This Is accounted for by the poor aualitv of the crop, which renders a larire nnrt of It unavailable for commercial purposes, by the liberal supply of hogs and cattie for feeding nurnoses ami lv the fn,-t that on account of Its Inferior nutritive value a larger amount than usual must be fed In order to accomplish the unmp results. This tendenrv. apparently Is about offset by the fad thut animals nlreadv fitted for mnrkol are being held nnd further fed because of the recent low prices for fat stock. Then, too, this plant is remarkable for ns heaiinf finalities. A small plant In a six 01 eight Inch pot has m-oiluee I nf tli, same time a number of large lemons, craging nearly two pounds each, while a large plant has produced sev eral dozen lemons on a single branch. With the eommerokil varieties of the ordinary lemon the effort is i,,,,ii i produce lemons rather small, but of uniform size. Since In this country the ordinary lemon flourishes only in frost proof localities, there are onlv a, few sections where the soil and cli mate are adapted for Its culture. Hut the ronilerosn lemon can be grown In doors as any house plant and, If de sired, may lie kept outside hi summer " niu migiit lie done Willi the I'on derosn lemon If the attempt was made to grow It for the sale of the lemons on the market we do not know, but the crop would be large from any stand point. However, this plant is grown oi iiccorntion purposes chiefly and only incidentally for fruit. Thus It pays double dividends. Its culture is easy, and there are no particular difficulties to contend with. The chief point to guard against is the tendency most people have to use too large a pot, especially at Brst. A plant ""e jeara oiu siiould have about six hu h pot. Largo spreudlng plants trees rather, you might say-six or eigiu icet lilgli, thrive for years In au ordinary sized tub.
