Persons that can rarely or never make it, in honesty to them selves, are among the most un fortunate. They do not live, but ex ist; for to live implies more than to be. To live is to be well and strong- " to arise feeling equal to the ordinary duties of the dav, and to retire not overcome by them to feel life bound ing in the veins. Ho had long been in the employ of the custom house as an inspector, or guard. For many years Bill Chambers was a Salem local character, running a cab here when cabs were more in use than they have been since street railway lines have penetrated the remotest sections.
