OLD LANDMARK GONE Dwelling House Occupied by W. Stowe and Family Destroyed by Hre. How to Break Up a Cold. It may be a surprise to many to learn that a severe cold can be completely broken up in one or two days' time. The tiret symptoms of a cold are a dry, loud cough, a profuse watery discharge from the nnsb, and a thi", white coaling on the tongue. When Chamberlain's cough remedy is taken every hour on the first appearance of these symptoms, it counteracts the ellect of the cold and restores the system to a healthy con dition within u day or two. For sale by Stafrin Drug Co. Over 40,000 head of sheep, besides many carloads of cattle and horses, have been shippod from Heppner. Stimulation Without Irritation. In case of stomach and liver J rouble the proper treatment is to stimulate thepe organs without irritating them. Orino Laxative Fruit Syrup aids diges tion and stimulates the liver and bowels without irritating these organs like pills oi ordinary cathartics. It does not nau seate or gripe and is mild and pleasant to take. Belt & Cherrington. Some farmers wanting the rain to quit; others in other parts of the state wanting more rain. 'Twas ever thu The old Hiram Ogden dwelling house, one of Dallas' undent land marks, was destroyed by Are Tuesday night. The house was the property of Dr. B. H. MeCallon and I. F, Yoakum, and was occupied by W, Stowo and family. The fire was caused by the explosion of a lamp. The loss is fully $lr)00, covered by insurance to the amount of $800. The household good were uninsured anl were totally destroyed, only an organ and a small amount of bidding being saved. The lire occurred shortly after o clock In the evening, at a time when nearly all the people in town were in attendance at the politica meeting at the courthouse. Mrs Stowe had just put her children to bed and was preparing to retire when the lmip exploded. She hastily carried her children out of the house and ran to the Chinese laundrv on Jefferson street, where the alarm was turned in Both hose companies responded promptly and in a few minutes had two strong streams of water playing on the burning building. The firemen did effective work, hut the fire had gained such a start before their arrival that it was impossible to save the upper story of tho building. The peculiar construction of the roof and the numerous partition walls in the house made the fighting of the fire exceedingly difficult, and fully 30 minutes of hard work were required to bring the flames under control. The large barn and Outbuildings escaped uninjured. The house was one of the oldest in Dallas, having been built nearly 60 years ago. The property originally belonged to Hiram Ogden, and the construction work was done by William Fraker, a pioneer resident, now living iu Pendleton. The house was owned by J. F. Groves for many years, and was thoroughly repaired and Improved by him a short time be fore it passed into the hands of its last owners. Unknown Friends. There are manv people who have used Chamberlain's Colic, Ciolera and Diar rhoea Kemedy with splendid resulis, but who are unknown because they have hesitated about giving a testimonial of their experience for publication. These people, however, are none the less friends of this remedy. They havedone much toward making it u household word bv their personal recommendation to friends and neighbors. It is a good medicine to have in the home and is widely knovfn for its cures of diarrhoea and all forms of bowel trouble. For sale by Stafrin Drug Co. An Astoria fisherman caught a 70- pound salmon. The first half bottle relieved me and four bottles have cured me of this terrible disease. Before I began taking Foley's Kidney Cure I had to make water about every fifteen minutes, day and night, and passed a hriek-dnst eubstance, and sometimes a slimy substance.
