A yard sale begins at 8 a.m. with a free car wash from 9 a.m. to noon. Coffee and snacks will be available at no charge. Miss Teen hosts open-house party Mikaela Bruer, Miss Teen Oregon USA, will attend an open-house party in her honor Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Pressed Coffee and Wine Bar, 788 Main St., Dal- las. The party will celebrate her accomplishments as she prepares to represent Oregon at the National Miss Teen USA pageant. Free refreshments and entertainment will be pro- vided. City to hold council forum on July 27 The city of Monmouth will host a city council can- didate forum July 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Volunteer Hall, 144 Warren St. S., Monmouth. Monmouth High 84th reunion set The 84th Monmouth High School reunion will be held Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historic Gentle House, 855 N. Mon- mouth Ave., Monmouth. A potluck luncheon with a special dessert will begin at 12:30 p.m. The annual gathering of alumni, family and friends celebrates the school, which was located where Rice Auditorium now stands. PC to accept grant applications Polk County will begin accepting applications for business development grants for the 2016-17 fund- ing cycle on Friday. The Business Develop- ment Grants support proj- ects focused on business expansion and creation of new jobs in the agriculture, trade sector and tourism in- dustries within Polk County. The maximum amount available is $30,000 per project. Application reviews will be conducted on a first come, first served basis as they are received. Funding for the grants is made available through state lottery proceeds. Grant application forms and other materials are available online at www.co.polk.or.us/cd/ed/b usiness-development- grants. Summer jump rope camp begins The summer jump rope camp, sponsored by the Rope Busters jump rope team, begins Monday at the Whitworth Elementary School gym, 1151 SE Miller Ave., Dallas. The camp runs Monday through July 22 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $30, which in- cludes a jump rope and T- shirt, or $20, which includes a jump rope. The camp is open for all skill levels. Pacific Highway West, Rickreall, will hold its annual porch sale Saturday at 9 a.m. The sale is a fundraiser to help support museum activ- ities. Battle Buddies changes locations Polk County Battle Bud- dies, a support group for Polk County veterans, will meet at 486 SW Westwood, Dallas on Monday. The group meets the third Monday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. There is no charge to at- tend. A barbecue potluck will be served. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish. REUNION ROUNDUP • The Dallas High School Class of 1956 The 60th reunion will be held on Aug. 6 at Murphy’s Restaurant on East Ellendale in Dallas.
