forum on July 27

will host a city council can-
didate forum July 27 at 5:30

84th reunion set
The 84th Monmouth
High School reunion will be
held Sunday from 11:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historic
Gentle House, 855 N. Mon-

A potluck luncheon with
a special dessert will begin
at 12:30 p.m. The annual
gathering of alumni, family
and friends celebrates the
school, which was located
where Rice Auditorium now
stands.

PC to accept grant
applications
Polk County will begin
accepting applications for
business development
grants for the 2016-17 fund-
ing cycle on Friday.
The Business Develop-
ment Grants support proj-
ects focused on business
expansion and creation of
new jobs in the agriculture,
trade sector and tourism in-
dustries within Polk County.
The maximum amount
available is $30,000 per
project.
Application reviews will
be conducted on a first
come, first served basis as
they are received.
Funding for the grants is
made available through
state lottery proceeds.

Summer jump rope
camp begins
The summer jump rope
camp, sponsored by the
Rope Busters jump rope
team, begins Monday at the
Whitworth Elementary
School gym, 1151 SE Miller
Ave., Dallas.
The camp runs Monday
through July 22 from 9 to
11:30 a.m.
Cost is $30, which in-
cludes a jump rope and T-
shirt, or $20, which includes
a jump rope.
The camp is open for all
skill levels.
Day of registration will be
available.

PC museum to hold
porch sale
The Polk County History
Museum, 560 S. Pacific
Highway West, Rickreall, will
hold its annual porch sale
Saturday at 9 a.m.
The sale is a fundraiser to
help support museum activ-
ities.
All items being sold have
been donated specifically
for the event.
The museum is still ac-
cepting items for sale.

Battle Buddies
changes locations
Polk County Battle Bud-
dies, a support group for
Polk County veterans, will
meet at 486 SW Westwood,
Dallas on Monday.
The group meets the
third Monday of each
month from 6 to 8 p.m.
There is no charge to at-
tend.
A barbecue potluck will
be served. Attendees are
encouraged to bring a dish.
The group, which usually
meets at West Valley Hospi-
tal, will also meet at the
new location on Aug. 15.

REUNION ROUNDUP
• The Dallas High School Class of 1956
The 60th reunion will be held on Aug. 6 at
Murphy’s Restaurant on East Ellendale in
Dallas. The gathering will begin 11:30 a.m.,
with a group photo at noon. Lunch will be
after the photo.

• The Dallas High School Class of 1966
The 50th reunion will be held July 22-24.
Friday evening’s event will take place Dal-
las High School for a tour at 5 p.m., fol-
lowed by a no-host gathering at Pressed
Coffee & Wine Bar on Main Street in down-
town Dallas at 6 p.m.
Saturday will start with golf at Dallas
Golf Club at 10 a.m. The cost is $12. That
evening is a social hour and dinner at Spir-
it Mountain Banquet Room, $50 per per-
son.
The reunion will conclude Sunday with
a no-host picnic at Dallas City Park at 1
p.m.

union An all-class reunion will be held July

The 20th reunion will be held on July 30 at
Latitude One Restaurant on Main Street in
Dallas. There will be drinks, dinner, a slide
show, and dancing during the evening.

ner 7 p.m. (this is a no-host event, but all
are welcome and you are not required to
eat or drink at this event). Guests are wel-
come at the event. Meals are $21 per per-
