Mitch and Cathy have long histories in Dallas. Cathy’s family has a street named after them – Holman Avenue. Teal Creek and the mill that was there are named after Mitch’s family. The couple lives in rural West Salem, and have often driven through Independ- ence on their way to visit their son, an Oregon State University graduate. They both attended school at Western Oregon University, and own tanning salons in Salem, Bronze Planet. They’d been thinking of di- versifying their business for a while, and when the oppor- tunity to rent the building on C and Main came up, the Teals were ready. “This building was beg- ging to be a coffee and tap house,” Mitch said. “The po- tential was just huge.
