An optional playtime in the pool will follow the lesson. The World’s Largest Swim Lesson is a worldwide event that encourages people to learn how to swim to pre- vent drowning. Grace Community offers Bible school Grace Community Church, 598 E. Ellendale, Ave., Dallas, will offer Vaca- tion Bible School Friday through July 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $10 for one to two kids and $15 for three or more in the same house- hold. The school is open to kids entering preschool through fifth grade. Volunteers sought for MI parade Luckiamute Watershed Council and Polk Soil and Water Conservation District are looking for volunteers for the 2016 Monmouth-In- dependence Rotary Club Grand Parade on July 4. Volunteers are needed for the rear detachment, which consists of riding or walking along side Claudia, a 14-foot tall Chinook salmon, to spread the word about keep- ing streams and streets clean. Volunteers may hold signs or carry trash bags and encourage the public to de- posit bottles, cans, candy wrappers and any other trash and recyclables they have. Polk County Fair 4-H entry forms due Polk County 4-H entry forms are due by July 1 at 6 p.m. at the Polk County OSU Extension Office, 289 E El- lendale Ave. Suite 301. The Polk County Fair is Aug. 11- 13. Entry forms and other required paperwork are now available at the Extension office or online at www.ex- tension.oregonstate.edu/ polk/fair. MICC kicks off new Chamber program The Monmouth-Indepen- dence Chamber of Com- merce will hold a Chamber Ambassador Kick Off Party Wednesday (today) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haugen’s Por- trait Park, 9140 Hoffman Road, Independence.
