This is a fun time for the center and the community, with the old favorites — chicken noodle, vegetable beef, clam chowder and vegetarian. Pies are all homemade with fruit. COMMUNITY CALENDAR Old-time fiddlers to perform in Falls City The Oregon Old Time Fiddlers will perform a ben- efit concert at the Falls City Methodist Church, at the corner of North Main Street and First Avenue, at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Turkey shoot is Titus 3 fundraiser Titus 3 House Turkey Shoot will be Oct. 24 at the Independence Elk’s Gun Club. Proceeds from the event will benefit and sup- port Titus 3 House. Registration and conti- nental breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. that morning. Prizes include a long gun giveaway, Astoria salmon guided fishing trip, turkey, hams and much more. JOLENE GUZMAN/ Itemizer-Observer Downtown newest resident, an unnamed, but popular rooster, was brought to Dallas by Some Things owner Mike Berkes as “something fun for downtown.” Formerly from Joseph, the rooster has been the subject of curiosity since taking its place outside the store. Main, is extending “Food for Fines” through the month of November. In a competition with the school district, the library will be offering $1 off late fines for each food item, hoping to collect as many items as possible. Wine, cheese tasting downtown Downtown Trends and Treasures consignment boutique will host a wine and cheese tasting from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the store, 142 Pacific Ave., Mon- mouth. Monmouth park breaking ground Celebrate the com- mencement of the largest park project in Monmouth’s history at the Main Street Park Amphitheater ground- breaking ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the am- phitheater site. Construction improve- ments have already begun, such as getting the ground ready for the new bath- rooms, removal of trees, and selling and relocating the little green house that was on the property. The twosome work to- gether to create watercol- ors, functional pottery and ceramic art. Their work can be found at the library’s art wall and display case.
