7 CttftisTlAN Letter from Bro. Davis. F orestville , C al , July 31, 1883. Bro. Floyd: Allow me to say to the brethren of this coast that Bro. K. Bailes, of wt hu», fnriuf.rly q £ XkfigQiuhaa, paid us a visit in California, and delivered us thirteen discourses at ■ Forestville. He merited and re ceived profound attention, and all were sorry when he quit; the praise he now gets is hardly proper —to gtve to ^anr oracles speak, and the Savior said, “ My words they are spirit and they are life and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and is a discerner of the thought and intent of the heart.” It was true then and is true to-day, my brother. He and his wife left for Portland on the steamer of the 29th inst., and from there they will go Io Castle Rock, which, I believe, is in Washington Territory. He will - going home. He will be at Scio in about three weeks. He anticipates moving to this place, and for that purpose be has contracted for him a place. He is well pleased with our country. He appeared to enjoy himself to the fullest extent. May the Lord be with and bless him wherever he goes is the wish of your humble brother in Christ, L evi D avis . Report from Bro. Easter. H illsboro , O r ., July 25, 1883. Bro. Floyd : • Bro. Jas. Campbell and myself preached at the Gibb’s school-house on the Chehalem the 3rd Lord’s day. Had one confession. If any one of your many readers know of the whereabouts of Bro. Soul, who moved to Washington Territory from Osage county, Kan., about seven years ago, will they please inform me by .postal card of his address, if he still lives ? I think you paid Dr. Dodd’s tract a deserving tribute. He is something like a disappointed politician, and his tract should be viewed in that light. I imagine that fully as interesting a tract might be written entitled “The Status of S. T. Dodd, A. M., M. D., &c., among the Churches of Kansas.” Your Bro. in hope of life, J. P.
