DIED. A Miower of Nickles. W C Brown, a Dallas, Polk Co., hop grower, some months ago unde the statement that if hops over sold again us high us 20 cents he would Matter broad cost in the streets of Dullas a huudred dollars worth of nickels for the children. He got 25c ts for his hops and on last Sat urday afternoon he made good his word and literally sowed the public square in Dullas with five cent pieces. There wore about 400 children present urrangod in groups to cor respond with their sizes and uge. Children over 14 years were bar red. Beautiful Sea Shells Free. Sinco coming South I have re ceived numerous inquiries for sea shells, and am pleased to say to your readers that I have been living on the seashore, and have made a tine collection of lovely shells from our own shore, the coral reefs aud the West India Islands, and that I will send a dozen different kinds, no two alike, and a dozen scarlet sea peas to any one who sends a stamp to pay the postage. The game of foot ball between the Cottnge Grove boys and the Drain 'Normal school at Drain, Saturday, was propounded by all who witness ed it one of the best and most excit ing contest of its kind ever scon. The L e a d e r promised the Drain people Inst week if they expected to win they would havo to play ball. And from all reports they did so but they wnro up against the real thing and wero satisfied with tying the score which, was 5 to 5. Each side scored a touchdown in the first half but failed to repeat tho process in the second half of tho game. She was mar ried to Sylvester Veatch, Jan. 25, 1855. Seven children were born to them six of whom survive to mourn her loss. Airs Veatch was converted in converted in 18G2 and later united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
