A Fine Game.
The game of foot ball between the
Cottnge Grove boys and the Drain
'Normal school at Drain, Saturday,
was propounded by all who witness
ed it one of the best and most excit
ing contest of its kind ever scon. The
L e a d e r promised the Drain people

they would havo to play ball. And
from all reports they did so but
they wnro up against the real thing
and wero satisfied with tying the
score which, was 5 to 5. Each side
scored a touchdown in the first half
but failed to repeat tho process in
the second half of tho game. Cot

team and considering they were a
lighter aggregation by about seven
pounds to the man and the fact that
they ware handicapped by the lack
of a coach in their preparations, our

tain ment- A re turn game is promised
for tho 10th of next month here
when tho people of Cottage Grove
will surely return tho compliment

born in Hancock Co, HI. She crossed
the plains in company with her
parents, brothers amt sisters coming
to Oregon in 1853. She was mar
ried to Sylvester Veatch, Jan. 25,
1855. Seven children were born
to them six of whom survive to
mourn her loss.
Airs Veatch was converted in
converted in 18G2 and later united
with the Cumberland Presbyterian
Church.
She was stricken with paralysis
March 27. 1893 from which she
never fully recovered,
