The deep interest that is mani fested in the Bohemia railroad pro je c t waa evident W ednesday even ihg hy the enthusiastic audience that assembled at M artin’s H a ll for the purpose of discussing the ques tion o f right o f way. The h all was packed with the representative citizens and after few selections J>y an eight piece orcfjestra, Mr I H Bingham arose and placed M r Darwin Bristow in nomination for chairman, who was unanimously elected. Mr F Eby was chosen secretary. The chairman stated the object o f the meeting as he understood it and called on M r Morphy who m anaging the affairs o f the com pany who propose to build said road, to address the people on the subject, At the school ineetmg last Satur day the projiositioii to levy an extra 5-vnill tax for the purpose of con tinuing the school was voted down- The Leader believes this to be a very sad mistake. A good public school is essential to the welfare of any town and if the general ap propriation is not sufficient to con duct the school as it should be con ducted then a special tax should be paid by the patrons of sueh schools, and when they fait to vote such a tax they vote directly against their own interests. No other one thing would drive more families away from Cottage Grove and hinder more from coming here than to have the school to close. Another meet ing has been called for January 18 to reconsider the matter and we trust that the citizens o f Cottage Cottage Grove will put ou tbeir “ thinking caps” betweeu now and that time and let them come out to the meeting on that day and vote for the tax. We give below the thoughts of our most prominent men tn the sul ject. “ IVe aught to have 9 months school ” Ben Lurch. • 8 * N E W • O P P O R T U N I T E S HOUSEW ORK Too much housework wrecks wo men’s nerves.
