Grandpa lloxie, as he was known by everyone, had made his home with his son for the last three years, lie was born in Cayuage county, New York, Aug. 27th, 1826, and at ten years of age moved to Michi gan with his parents in which state he made his home for thirty years. During this period he married and three children was the result of the union, all of whom are living. From Michigan he moved to Kansas and made that state his home for 38 years. Dining these pioneer days iu Kansas Mr. llo x ie went through some trying ordeals. He followed the life of a farmer and until about two, months ago, never knew what sickness was; dropsy was the immediate cause o f his death. One daughter, Mrs. Helen C. Fields, resides in Kansas: B. P. Hoxie, o f Baudot!, Oregon, and C. L. lloxie, of this city, survive him. The funeral service look place from the Undertaker’ s Chapel Thursday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Masou conducting the service.
