session Tuesday evening. A re­
monstrance against paying more
than $1.75 per square yard for pav­
ing on Main street and more than
5% per cent interest on bonds for
the same was presented by some of
the property owners on Main street.
This remonstrance was read and
declared lost on the grounds that
it was not strong enough to justify
other actiou.
A remonstrance against paving
East Fourth street was read aud
tabled, time for its filing having
expired.
Arc lights were asked for at the
corner of Fifth and Wynne streets
and at Burkholder’s residence, and
tUe matter was referred to street
committee with power to act.
Bids for the construction of the
new west side sewer lateral were as
follows: H. Yenske, $392.50; H.
C. Hart, $.511.75. Contract award­
ed to Mr. Hart.
The city engineer was instructed
to prepare plans and specifications
for a concrete abutment or pier at
the east end of the Main street
river bridge, that permanent] street
