B. Wood, mauager of the road, is on his way home from a business trip to Chicago. The bridge was of the ordinary wooden type, with a ‘»0-foot span, and crosses Row River alxntt five miles east of Cottage Grove. Several picnic excursion traius had passed over the bridge Saturday previous to the wreck. Work of clearing the debris is now well under way, an O. R. & N. wrecking train kaviug arrived upon the sceue yesterday. lu a fit of insanity Saturday at Marquam, twenty miles south of Oregon City, Bert H. » .arret placed a charge of dynamite under the kitchen of his house and blew himself, wife a n d daughter, Beulah, aged live into eternity. The explosion also perhaps fatally injured another daughter, Villa, who was iu the upper portion of the house. The tragedy occurred while Mrs. Garret and her daughter Beulah, weie iu the kitchen preparing breakfast. The little girl was iu stautly killed, as was Garrett, who was blown thirty feet from the house against a tree, almost tear ing oil his head. The force of the explosion was so great that Garrett’s body was blown twenty feet beyond the tree. A Kentucky woman wants a divorce because her husband whistled and sang while she scold ed him.
