D O N ’T M I S S IT The Booth-Kelly Lumber Com pany is making splendid progress on its logging road out of Wend- ling. Two miles of grade are ready for ties and rails, three bridges practically completed, and the entire six miles will be ready for operation by November 1st. The plan is to supply both the Wendliug and Springfield mills with logs from the camps on this road. The Springfield and Co burg plants are now in operation and shipments are going forth from all four mills.— Guard. Mrs. Charlie Wilson entertained company Monday. Mr. Partnele is recovering from his attack of sickness. Mr. Lawson Slagle burned his slashing Tuesday night. Mr. S. Burcham made a busi ness trip to town Wednesday. Mrs. John Ashby and little daughters made a trip to the Grove Monday. The threshers were busy at the ranch of Mr. George Thompson Tuesday. Mr. M. F. Babcock is taking a vacation, riding out with Hamil ton Fox this week. Miss Jennie Collins of Spring- field has been visiting her relatives here this week. Mrs. Arvilla Briggs left Sunday for a visit with relatives in Coburg. Mr. Lew Lajoie’s people were guests at the Caldwell home Sun day. Mr. 1). P. Sheridan and Miss Lillie Neal made a trip to Cottage Grove Tuesday. We learn that Miss Nellie Mc Cord of Creswell has our school for the coming term. Mr. C. II. Burkolder of Cottage Grove was a visitor at the Briggs sawmill Monday. Mrs. Gertie Smith returned to Eugene Sunday after a weeks visit with relatives. Miss Lulu Jackson left Thurs day for a stay of some time with relatives near Portland. The Paint Co. jieople have a number of men at work on their mines near the school house. Mr. Brown and Mr. Renzie Huff are loading a car with hay to be shipped to Ashland this week. Mr. Lee Cormauy, who has been visiting old friends and neighbors here returned to his home in St. Johns Sunday. The party given by Wyman Renne Saturday eve was much en joyed by the young people of the neighborhood who attended.
