The Booth-Kelly Lumber Com
pany is making splendid progress
on its logging road out of Wend-
ling. Two miles of grade are
ready for ties and rails, three
bridges practically completed, and
the entire six miles will be ready
for operation by November 1st.
The plan is to supply both the
Wendliug and Springfield mills
with logs from the camps on this
road. The Springfield and Co
burg plants are now in operation
and shipments are going forth
from all four mills.— Guard.

bids w ill be received by the Common
Council of the city of Cottage Grove,
Dine county, Oregon, for the construct
ion o f a steel girder bridge with con
crete piers, across the Coast Fork river
at the west end of Main street in said
city on the 14th day of September, 1908,
at the hour o f 8 o ’clock p. ill. of said
day. Said bridge is to consist o f a
single span 'H, feet long, with a roadway
16 feet wide in the clear with a 5 foot
sidewalk on each side outside the
girders. The bridge to tie capable o f
sustaining a load of 10 tons at any one
point or 150 pounds per square foot over
entire surface.
Contractors w ill lie required to submit
plans for bridge which must comply
substantially with the specifications for
same now on fde in the office o f the
City Recorder and each bid must lie ac
companied by a certified check for $250
made payable to" tile mayor o f said city.
Separate bids w ill lie received for the
concrete piers and the steel work of the
bridge. The Council reserves the right
to reject any and all bids.
