Thompson has purchased the cigar store and billiard parlors of Ostrander & McQueen and has assumed the management. The retiring gentlemen have not de cided on any future business pur suits. The week was noted for its num erous business changes in this city, among which were the following: N. E. Compton of the general merchandise firm of Compton & Wallace, sold his interest in the business to N. L. Atkins of Forest Grove, who will take his place in the store March 20. C. C. DuBruille, formerly in the delivery business in this city, bought Mr. Jackson out this week and will resume his old business again here, April 1st. He will bring his family here from Eugene as soon as a house can be secured. George Comer has sold his har ness shop to Messrs. W . F. Wheel er and J. C. Scott of Portland. Mr. Comer gives up his business because of bad eyesight. His eyes are giving him much trouble. Invoicing was commenced last Tuesday and the new proprietors take possession at once. WHEN HER BACK ACHES W. C. T. U. Reception A reception to new members of the W . C. T. I', was held at the home » f Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Wheeler, Tuesday evening, about 30 guests being in attendance. Music and games were the enter taining features of the evening. Mrs. Briggs gave a reading, Mrs. Woods a solo, Mrs. Simmons and Mrs. Woods a vocal duet, following which was an interesting contest.
