COTTAGE GROVE. OR. ' l Eastern Stars Visit to Eugene. Saturday's Eugene Register had the following to say regarding the visit of the Cottage (trove <). E. S. members to Eugene: Evangeline Chapter No. SI, O. H. S. had a jubilee last evening. They had as their honored guests the Grand Worthy-Matron, Mrs. liargelt and Grand Worthy l’atron, If. S. I huiu. Hut the most remarkable feature of the jubilee was the delegation, which came down from Cottage Grove on the flyer. Veatch and husband, Mrs. Lydia Stouffer, Mrs. George Lea and husband, Mrs. Nancy Porter, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Herbert Enkiu. Mrs. W. II. Abrams and husband and Worth Ilarvev. Commercial Club Meeting. Tile regular weekly business meeting of the Commercial Club was held at the club rooms Mon day evening. A communication was read from the Warren Construction Co. of Portland, to the effect that they would soon send a representative to this city to make an estimate of the cost of paving main street from the depot to the river bridge. The club appointed the following eon*- mittee to meet and confer with this construction* representative: Ben Lurch, II. O. Thompson and Mar ion Veatch. The committee on the cannery proposition of Mr. Buster, rejxirted adverslv on the grounds that his plan was on a scale too large and expensive for the needs and re quirements of this community. Local people are now figuring on installing a small cannery in this city. Many members of the Commer cial club visited the Coast Fork grange today for an interchange of views on matters of interest to both organizations. Machinery Arrives. The machinery for the new shingle mill which is being in stalled on Mosbv Creek by Sam Lewis, arrived at this place Tues day being consigned to the Wynne Hardware Co. through which com pany the plant was purchased by Mr. Lewis. The plant was hauled out to the mill site this week and will soon be ready for operations. Its capacity will lie 30,000 shingles per day. ROILKR FOR STEAM I.A l N liR V . The Wynne Hardware Co. also received Tuesday, the 30-horse power boiler for the new steam laundry in this city. As soon as the boiler is installed the plant will practically be ready for business. Two nig washing machines were also received for the laundry this week which are being installed along with the five horse power electric motor. LOCAL ANI) PERSONAL.
