A week ago last Tuesday J. W. Hakcr of Mils city was taken seri ously ill' at the family home with pneumonia in both 1 uiijs, accom panied with acute pleurisy of the left side and with it iuilamatioii of the pericardium. His condition became alarming almost from the start, and Friday and Saturday his case was extremely critical. Sun day morning Dr. Gallr.-th, super intendent of the state insane asylum was called in consultation. How ever Sunday Mr. Hakcr showed signs of improvement which con tinued steadily, and at the present time, while his case is still con sidered extremely critical, he is in fair way to immediate recovery. Ul'.VIVAi. Cl.OSItl) The revival meeting at the M. K. church in this city closed with Sun day evcning'H services. Some ninety-seven were received into the church beside a number gointr to other deno.ninatious. Naturally the church is highly pleased with the result of the protracted service and feels that much u'ood will be the result. In this the church certainly has the sentiment of all law-abidiut; citizens, and none will deny the need of reform in this community. HvnngcINt Marshel Went to Roseburj,' from here whsre be opened a serie.1 of meetings Monday evening. Inhuman. It has been reported that three horses were It ft' tied in the city limits of Cottage Grove from 8 o'clock last Saturday morning uu til 8 o'clock Sunday morning, with out the least care or attention, so far as anyone knows. They were not only without food but were tied where they were obliged to stand in mud almost knee deep. It is about time a humane society was organized here and the perpetrators of such cruel and inhuman treat ment he made to pay a good round fine for such depravity. IlUSlNKSS I'AKTNKKSIIIl't lfrank Skilbnan, who recently purchased the grocery business of Hakcr & Johnson of this city, last Saturday sold a half interest of the business to I'rauk Garqutte. The firm is composed of rustling young business men, who will endeavor to please their customers with prompt and courteous attention, and a good, well selected stock of goods Tint Raii.koai). From private information from V. F.
