Cottage Grove was sur- rounded by devastating wildfi res. The Cottage Grove community became a cen- tral safe zone for evacuees searching for a place to land. With so many wildfi res in our region, re- sources were low. The community rallied local resources from local fi re services, local forestry, logging, and contractors to assist the effort. For evacuees, the community’s response once again was amazing. Battling low resources again, the American Red Cross had 9 shelters across the state of Oregon. To meet the evacuee needs, our churches, Fairgrounds, and community answered the calls setting up shelters and receiving numerous donations including supplies, hot meals, and clothing. Lane County has now had all evacua- tions lifted, but the community continues to gather donations and supplies for our neighbors north and south that lost their homes. Our hearts go out to all of those that have lost so much. We are blessed to live in a community that has come together to get through this devastation that has impacted our whole region and the West coast. Thank you to everyone that has helped! a spot where most come to get away. What’s “NEW” at the Chamber? We are pleased to introduce our new Offi ce & Membership Manager, Georgia Haskell.
