COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL | JULY 16, 2020 | 3A Local project, construction update for the week of July 13 Construction of Safe Routes to School and Fillmore stormwater outfall projects contin- ue. The water line crew has laid approximately 700 feet of new 12-inch water line. This line will replace the existing 10- inch AC water line. Workers are also in- stalling corporation stops where the new water services to the in- dividual residents will be. Service lines will be constructed at a later date. The crew hit a cou- ple of the existing water services and a buried telephone line, which caused some inconve- niences for a few resi- dents, but the Cottage Grove Public Works crew and Century Link restored water and phone service. More water line con- struction is planned for the of July 20, which will be continuing north on South Fourth Street and Fillmore Avenue around Triangle Park. Wildish Construc- tion’s storm drainage crew proceeded east across Lincoln Middle School’s field by lay- ing approximately 400 feet of the new 27-inch storm drainage line, which is replacing an 18- inch line. Crews also finish the access road into and around the water quality swale. A subcontractor be- gan placing specialized media/soil to help treat the storm water before it enters the Coast Fork of the Willamette River. Storm drainage line installation will continue as well. It is anticipated the crew will be crossing South Fourth Street July 21 or 22 and proceeding down Fillmore Avenue to South Seventh Street. Street excavation has tary sewer main in the coming week. They will start at Fillmore Avenue and proceed south on South Fourth Street to Grant Av- enue. This new line will replace an old 8-inch main. New sanitary sewer services will be installed at a later date after the new line passes the required testing. Also, two trees were scheduled to be removed at Lin- coln Middle School. These grants will range from $2,500 to $25,000 to support businesses directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The amount awarded will be based on a formu- la from the State that ac- counts for employment size and COVID-19- re- lated impacts. Business- es must use the proceeds for business-related op- erating expenses. Eligible businesses that pre-registered will be entered into a ran- dom lottery and selected until funding runs out. Community Lending Works will then work with the selected busi- nesses to complete the full application.
