2A | WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2019 | COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL On The Record Missing woman found safe near Drain Last Friday, Sept. 6, shortly after 12:15 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a call from a family member reporting that Hannah Justine Fox, who had been reported missing Sept. 3, had been located. Emergency services were dispatched and found Fox to be alive and speaking with others on private timber lands ap- proximately three quarters of a mile from where her vehicle was left. Fox had gone for a hike and became lost. She was Hannah Fox found in stable condition but was transported by am- bulance to an area hospital for evaluation. Search crews began looking for her last Tues- day, when deputies were alerted to a suspicious vehicle in the 1000-block of Umpqua Highway 99 outside of Drain. Deputies found the ve- hicle, a silver 2004 Toyo- ta Camry, parked near a private property gate, but no one was around it. The vehicle was unsecured with several items of val- ue inside. The registered owner of the vehicle was contact- ed by telephone. Deputies learned the vehicle had been being operated by 24-year-old Fox of Eugene. She had last been seen Monday, Sept. 2, and had no ties to Douglas County. Crews had been work- ing diligently to locate her. Efforts included ground search teams, K9 teams, ATV resources and air re- sources. The search terrain was a mix of heavy brush, timber and downed timber from the February snow event. The area Fox was miss- ing in was surrounded by roads, residences and small farms. Fox reported hear- ing searchers in the area but did not respond to them. POLICE LOG ported his phone and wallet stolen from a shopping cart in the Walmart parking lot. Sept. 4 • A male subject was found to be in posses- sion of a “meth pipe” at Eighth and Gibbs Street. The glass pipe was seized for destruction. • Aggravated assault occurred on S River Road. Sept. 6 • Theft was reported when $1,500 was sto- len from a subject who provided card numbers to a fraudulent email ac- count. Sept. 5 • Criminal mischief to Sept. 8 • A male subject was arrested on scene at Little Caesar’s Pizza for burglary after unlawful- ly entering the closed business, damaging property inside, stealing property and money and consuming food he had found inside the store. • An unknown person • A subject was ar- rested for shoplifting after pushing a cart full of merchandise totaling $325.59 in value from Walmart without paying for it. Robert “Bob” Duane Quigley 1951-2019 ODOT from which he retired. Robert was the owner of Black- hawk Electronics & Qtech. Robert’s hobbies included electronics, explosives, fi shing and his cocker Spaniels. Robert was a member of the Bohemia Mine Patrol and an honorary lifetime member passed away September 3, 2019 from cancer. She was born in Cham- bers, NE to parents Salem and Hilda (Peterson) Magnusson on June 25, 1925. She was a full- time mother and homemak- er until her children were in middle school, when she went to work at the Cottage Grove School District as a cook and custodial person, outlasting several administrators with a tenure of 22 plus years, retiring in 1986. Caroline loved to gar- den, sewing, making lingerie, dolls, dancing, music, canning, coast trips, animals, dressing nice and getting her hair and nails done. She was a member of the VFW Post 3473, the First Baptist Church and a 30 year 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. Mike enjoyed treasure hunting for antiques, auctions, traveling to the coast and attending truck and car shows. Mike is sur- vived by his loving wife, Can- dy Coop; son, Dan Coop and wife Sabrina; step-daughter, Lindsey Roberts and husband Wayne; step-daughter, Jessica Trout; father, Duane L. Coop and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his fi rst wife, Gail M. Coop in 1990. Michael Duane Coop Sept. 9 A shining star in the pet community of Cottage Grove has passed. Minnie Pearl, known for her namesake hat and dangling tag, died at 9:50am on August 19, 2019. Minnie was rescued from a “breeding mill” at the age of 3. She survived to age 12.5 years. She is survived by her playmates, Miley Maye and Boo- Boo, as well as her pet parents Mike and Karen Burney. She will be missed by her friends at local stores, banks and throughout Cottage Grove, as well as her friends, family and especially her male dog friend Teddy Bear also of Cottage Grove. Association. Quigley burned a portable toilet located at the disc golf course at North Region- al Park. Ella Mae Walker Alair Anne McCarty of Cot- tage Grove died on August 31, 2019, at the age of 74. She was born in Bagley, MN on August 10, 1945 to parents Arvid and Wilma (Lundmark) Nyleen. She graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1963 and attended some col- lege. She worked for Western Auto, and then Bohemia Real- ty and Century 21, retiring in 2018. She worked in the real estate industry for 40 years. Alair enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing Bunco. She liked to collect bells and angels. She grew fl owers in her fl ower beds, did callig- raphy, enjoyed knitting, and was a seamstress who sewed wedding dresses. She especial- ly enjoyed spending time with her family. Alair was a mem- ber of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove, the Cottage Grove Emblem Club, Board of Realtors, and Cottage Grove Recreation Association for many years. She received nu- merous awards from the Board of Realtors. She married Mike McCarty on September 5, 1964 at the Cottage Grove First Pres- byterian Church. Th is would have been their 55th Wedding Anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Mike McCa- rty; daughters Sally (Dan) Sjos- trom of Toledo, OR and Angie McCarty of Cottage Grove; sons, Mike (Tina) McCarty of Cashmere, WA and Pat Mc- Carty of Creswell, OR; sisters, Sharen (Wes) Shenk, Loretta (Phil) Bishop, Ardelle Carlton; brother-in-law Bob (Carolyn) McCarty;11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and mul- tiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvid and Wilma Nyleen, and brother, Gordon Nyleen. A Celebration of Life will be at Trinity Lutheran church on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 3:00 PM.
