Bryan Merl Parker, of Cottage Grove, was honored in a funeral procession April 16 which ended in a mil- itary graveside service at Roseburg National Cemetery in Roseburg, Ore. After graduating from Cottage Grove High School in 2011, Parker joined the United States Army and became a satellite communications specialist. Parker passed away unexpectedly March 31, 2019, at the age of 26. (Photos by Gary Manly/Cottage Grove Sentinel) Annual Cottage Grove Art Walk season set to kick off Friday It’s the perfect time to ex- perience art inside and out, so come enjoy the fi rst Cot- tage Grove Art Walk of the 2019 season. Th e stroll will take participants through buildings and along streets in Historic Downtown Cot- tage Grove, with works cre- ated by local artists on dis- play. Th e art walk will take place Friday, April 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. Some of the locations and featured artists will include: Kalapuya Books’ Terrisa West OG CG Trashionista; Charles Mattoon, poetry; Karin Th ompson, beads by the bag; Th e Craft y Mercan- tile, Richard McConochie; Five Flying Monkeys, Carl Rust photography; Ambrose Collectibles; Main Street Galleria; Bookmine; Th e Brewstation; Delight; Imag- ine It Framed; Axe & Fiddle; and Apple Pie Antiques. Featured Buskers of the night will include: Ban- jo Youngblood, a popular musician, comedian and Americana songbop writer; Nico Cornelius, jaw-harpist; and the popular duo “Reso- nance,” playing Celtic-rock fusion (Carol Palmer Wil- liams on guitar and vocals, Matt Hall on fi ddle). Fir Grove Cemetery Spring Clean-up May 4 Community groups or individuals looking for a project are encouraged to join the Fair Grove Cemetery Association in preserving its historic heritage established by pioneers in 1899. Th e Spring Clean-up is Saturday, May 4, beginning at 10 a.m. Bring your own tools, drinking water, bug repellent and sunscreen. Winter storms always leave limbs and small debris to be picked up. Also, bushes need trimming and gravestones need cleaning. A potluck dinner will be at noon at Ada Grange Hall. Th e hall will be open early for restroom facilities and refrigerator/ovens for potluck needs. Aft er the meal, the annual meeting will be held where participants can hear about the $3,000 grant the Grange received from Western Lane Community Foundation to help with the Rails & Trails project For more information or directions, contact Joy McCourt at 541-997-1828.
