A small turnout at the community potluck at the grange, but a large number attended the annual fi re de- partment ice cream social. Ii was wonderful to visit community members and former Loranians. Many enjoyed the dunk tank, the bounce house, fi re truck rides and rides in the EPUD bucket lift with mu- sic by Kyle and Jim. A large crowd gathered beside the Lorane Family Store to see the unveiling of the mural painted by long time Lorane residents and artists, Karen Pidgeon and Alix Mosieur. Th e painting depicts fl ora and animals in our valley. Bruce McDonald and Gary Th ompson, life-long Lorane residents, helped unveil the mural with the help of Jim Edwards (store owner) and Jim Bailor, also long-time residents. Test results for the pres- ence of copper in the water of the homes tested graded equally as well as that for lead. Th e MCL for Copper is 1.3 parts per million (or milligrams per liter). Th e homes’ test results for copper at the 90th percent point equaled 0.023 parts per million. Th e testing for the presence of lead and copper in the city’s drink- ing water at these regulated homes tested did not test positive for any amount of lead in the water and all of the tested homes’ results tested below the regulated Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 15 parts per billion. Th e MCL is to be enforced at the 90th percent point of all the homes tested.
