Director’s Note With much sadness, we are canceling this Wednesday’s Concert in the Park featuring Cowboy Cadillac. Th e National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning and we consulted with numerous sources including a senior offi cial at Lane County Public Health. Th e safe call is to cancel the show and encourage people to hydrate and stay as cool as possible. (Insert pictures of winners & contestants) What a fun day! Th e streets were full of people who weathered the heat for the Main Street Chili Cook Off and KNND’s Rock Roll N’ Rumble Car show. Th ere were 9 contestants who cooked up some chili with a variety of fl avor to please everyone. Th at was evident as we sold out of our tasting kits, there were 1,113 people’s choice votes cast, and several contestants ran out of chili! We want to acknowledge this year’s sponsors: Pacifi c Power, Cottage Grove Sentinel, Lane Community College, Walmart, and Weyerhaeuser and off er a special thanks to Mayor Jeff Gowing, Cottage Grove Garbage Service, and the City of Cottage Grove. Th anks to those from the Greeter’s committee who volunteered their time to serve, and the community for attending and tasting. Their theme/focus for the evening will be “Business Partnershps with Emerald PUD.” And don’t forget your business card to enter the door prize drawing.
